Featured imageWe started the day at Geelong, with Race 3 #5 Royal Glance “If the track is a 4 or better, then she will be the one to beat.”   The money came for Avenue Of Glory, and pushed our price out (love that).
Strangely run race, with lots of horses racing around the pack to get the lead.  Royal Glance was in the perfect position early, but got shuffled back as they neared the turn.  She had to go a bit wider on the turn, but then rocketed home.  Avenue Of Glory fought back near the line, but we did enough to win. TF $4.60 TT+&SP $4.40.  Profit +3.60 Units

A nice lunch and then off to Warwick Farm for Race 4.  Money in the bank and we have a “lay down misere” in this race.  This is already looking to be a very good day.  As with all these type of races, where you are just expecting to line up to collect, the horses performance was well below it’s ratings.  #3 Midas “he looks like he is going to be a good stayer, and I think he might just be too good for these”.  Artibai’s jockey slowed the pace to a walk.  Midas was happy to stay with it.  The end result.  Artibai, got boxed in and should have won by a 100 metres, but couldn’t get out.  And the swoopers who had such an easy run, thanks to the silly pace, came and got them with #7 All My Loving winning at $14.30.  Bet Chickdee will be happy, he tips #7 in every race 🙂  I found that out on 1982, that #7 is very profitable … but long term it doesn’t last … anyway he is leading the tipping competition, so good luck to him 🙂 Loss 1 Unit

Geelong Race 5 #6 – Cuban Perfection “this is his best distance.  He is jumping up in grade, but if he can repeat his last effort, should be there when the whips are cracking “.  Money came for Featured imageSavvy Henry, Super Sun, Host Me and Louie The Lip.  All of which was giving us a better price.  Break The Moment spread the field, which led to a wall of horses trying to make ground at the turn.  In among a fair amount of jostling Cuban Perfection got clear and made a lovely run.  Thought we had it, but got nosed out by Savvy Henry Loss 1 Unit

Doomben Race 6 #3 Menacing – “he has the speed.  If he can get himself positioned just off the pace, then his speed may win it for him in the straight.” The best he ever got was midfield and never fired a shot to finish 2nd last.
Stewards Report: “MENACING – Jumped awkwardly, shifted in and bumped another runner. Trainer S. Kendrick reported that the gelding raced like a horse that may have come to the end of its preparation and will now be recommending to connections to send the horse for a spell. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.” Thanks for telling us that after the race.  You are the trainer, you should know if a horse is at the end of his preparation.  Speaking through my wallet again, but this sort of stuff really annoys me. Loss 1 Unit

Now worries, we still have Geelong Race 6 #9 Star Of Harkaway “looks to be set for this one.  Drawn well, top jockey, everything in her favour”. Perfect positioning in the run, just behind the leaders with cover.  As they turned she went backwards to finish last.  I thought for sure that she had broken down.
Stewards Report “Star Of Harkaway – bumped with Gold Rust on straightening. Rider Damien Oliver reported his mount did not feel right in its action in the straight and a post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities and Stewards will follow up with the stable in the coming days.”  Well that doesn’t help and I have no idea why she put in that sort of performance. Loss 1 Unit
