These are the early selections for Saturday. There may be additional selections closer to the day. These are being advised now, to see if we can get some of the good early prices that we have been missing out on.
Apart from The Investor, FINAL Selections will be sent around 9:30 PM AEDT, for the Air Force that is 2130 hours Zulu Time, for the Navy it is 3 Bells, and for us Army blokes Mickey’s big hand is pointing straight down and his little hand is behind Minnie’s back.
Randwick Selection– he is building up an impressive record 10 starts 6-2-0. Last start showed that he can adapt his racing style to race on the pace, to beat his main rival today – 2 Units Win
Moonee Valley Selection – perfect distance for her, has a decent pull in the weights over her rivals and she should get the perfect run from her barrier draw. This one should be tough to beat – 1 Unit Win
Ascot Selection – this looks like a soft race for him. He is expected to dictate from the front and should have a better sprint than his rivals – 1 Unit Win
The Best of the Rest
I know that some people ignore me, and continue punting in the old ways. I hope that by the end of 2014 I have converted you to my way of thinking, and that it won’t take you 50 years to get there LOL!!!!! I am getting worried at how much money some people are outlaying. This is a gamble and there is every chance that you will lose your money. This is not a guaranteed success thing, nor is it a get rich quick scheme. These are not tips. These are what I have selected to bet on. I am telling you what I will be betting on and how much I am betting on them.
It is your decision whether to bet or not. For those of you who want to have more action, here are some thoughts on the various meetings. Sorry for the Adelaide people, I was in the Army at Woodside, and I love Adelaide, but I don’t do Morphetville … I am hopeless there.
Doomben, I am going to skip because of the track rating of a 5. I haven’t done particularly well on soft tracks this year.
The Best Bet at Doomben Race 7 #1 Missy Longstocking – This is NOT a selection and my money will NOT be on her. Doomben is predicted to be a soft 5, Overcast with light drizzle, 29°C and the rail true for the entire course. Resumed at the Gold Coast with a good run. Has to carry a house on her back, but she is the class horse in the field, with a top jockey steering her. She has won better races than this, and I am punting that this is not just a fitness run. $3 Plus represents value for her. But no bet from me.
The others at Doomben in order of preferred bets (i.e. the first race shown below would be the next best, the one below that the 3rd best and the last one the 4th best bet)
Doomben Race 2 #7 Vodnik won a weaker grade at his last start by a country mile. Expecting improvement from him. $2.80 Bet 365
Doomben Race 4 #7 Tips ‘N’ Tales. TAB 7 again, Chickee will be having kittens if these two get up 🙂 … he is making 70% POT so good luck to him 🙂 – Anyway back to this race, Ran on strongly last start when resuming from a spell. Will be fitter now and this is her ideal distance. $7 Bet 365
Doomben Race 3 #4 Anna Lizzie – last start she was first up from a spell and ran well to finish 2nd. She should be fitter for that run, this is her favourite course and distance. $2 Bet 365
Randwick Race 5 #1 Role Model – another Gai Waterhouse trained horse. She (the horse not Gai) has run very well in the trials, and only has to repeat that form to win this. IL MIO DESTINO is the natural leader here, and Gai’s insistence on her horses leading, may tire her out, and flatten her in the run home. I am wary of trial form and Gai’s method of racing. $6 Bet 365
Randwick Race 6 #6 Danas Best – another one of Gai’s. There is no natural speed in this race, and Gai will probably force him to lead. He is third up and Gai should have him fit for this, but I am thinking that the early work will tell. I would definitely have him in my quinellas (if I did them). $4.60 Bet 365. Australia Day Cup – tend not to bet on Cup Races.
Randwick Race 3 – #1 Centre Pivot my 4th best selection, after rubbishing Gais’ horses. This is Kavanagh and McDonald combining here and it is hard to dismiss that combination too lightly with a horse that has been racing extremely well. If that is the case, why is he only 4th best? A steep rise in weights and a step up in distance are the concerns. There is no real genuine speed here, and if he can get in a forward position and the race is run at a muddling pace, then McDonald can get him home. $1.90 Bet 365 – too short for mine.
Moonee Valley Race 1 #4 Royal Snitzel (2nd best bet). In her last prep she was outstanding. Back from a spell here, and if she can get into a forward position from her barrier draw, then she will be hard to beat. Bullpit (we had a good win on him) will look to lead, and he may just outlast them again. Stingray is a class horse and watch him him coming down the centre of the track in the run home. $2.05 Bet365 Too short for my money – too many questions about this race.
Moonee Valley Race 7 #1 Dissident He will be the favourite and will be the one to beat. He is a genuine Group Horse. Tudor and Hard Stride will lead, with Dissident sitting just behind them. He should win from there $1.80 Bet365 … I just noticed that Ladbrokes are giving Best Tote/SP +20% … maybe the place for backing shorties. Stakes Race – don’t bet on those either 🙂
Moonee Valley Race 6 #9 Profit Share – he is suited by this distance and will be coming at them late from midfield. A couple of speedsters here should lead the race in Turf Crusher and Dainty Miss. Profit Share’s racing style means that he will need some luck to get a clear run at the leaders. The money says that he can win $3.50 Bet365
Ascot Race 5 #8 Power Punch (2nd best) Unlucky last start. Those who have been with me for awhile, will know what I think of unlucky horses … probably will always have a hard luck story for losing. He has everything going for him, but a Magic Millions Race and he is looking for his first Saturday win. He will probably win it by the length of the straight, and he won’t be carrying my money to slow him down. $3.20 Bet365
Ascot Race 6 #1 Shining Knight (3rd best) Price is shortening and the money says he can win. This is a better distance for him. I don’t like his racing style, but the money says that he will launch at them in the straight. Expect Cool Trade & Travinator to set the early pace. $3.20 Bet365 Stakes Race.
