Our thoughts on Wednesday’s Races. I am betting on 1 Selection at Ballarat and 1 at the Launceston night meeting. More options and information on our site “The Punter’s Friend”
Warwick Farm Soft 7 Showers (Light rain shower – 24°C) Rail: +3m Entire Circuit
Best betting race for the day is Race 5 #4. Danjeu. Would have been a 2 Unit Bet, but, I don’t bet on Soft (7)’s so I will pass this race. The other race of interest is Race 4 #3 Shengli. Would have been a 1 Unit Bet, but again I don’t bet on Soft (7)’s so I will pass this race. No Bet
Ipswich Soft 6 Fine (Moderate rain at times – 24°C) Rail: +5 metres Entire Circuit
Best Betting Race is R5. #2 You Win Again, inside gate and like Track and Distance. However, too many first starters and a Soft (6) … would have been a 1 Unit Bet, But No Bets here.
Ballarat Good 4 Fine (Clear/Sunny – 24°C) Rail: +6m 600m- WP, True Remainder
We have a selection for Ballarat. He is clearly the best horse in the race and is suited to this distance. He will need to stay in touch with the leading group though, and I am a tad concerned that his racing style is be mid field. He must stay out of trouble there and he will run over them in the straight. Because of his racing style, he will be a 1 Unit Win Bet WON 0.85 (or 0.90) Units Profit
Weather: Fine Track: Soft 5 Rail: +7m 1200m-WP; +4m Remainder
I normally don’t bet on soft 5’s, but as it will be Clear/Sunny during the day and 21°C, I think it will come back closer to 4.
Launceston Selection – 2 Units Win
“He is coming off a good solid win, and the mile should suit him”
Geegees Baritone’s stupid price got out to $3.50, but then shortened to around the $2 mark. Why he was not racing in the pace, has got me beat. Sitting back, meant the winner could make a sharp move and get a good break. He tried to chase the winner down, but the horse had bolted. I am cranky over this one … I don’t know where those tactics came from. I don’t think the horse was given every chance. Would hope to see something in the Steward’s Reports, but probably won’t. 2 Unit Loss
