Race 1 – MASTER YEARLINGS SUMMER CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL – 1600 metres:

Mister Milton – slow to begin.

Jacquinot Bay -whilst no direct action was taken against rider Michael Walker for the amount of backhand whip use he used in the home straight, he was reminded of the guidelines taken by Stewards that when using his whip in a backhand manner, he must give the horse more time to respond by breaking the whip use up, than he did on this occasion.

Race 2 – SPORTINGBET MYSTERY BETS HANDICAP – 2400 metres:

Race 3 – SPORTINGBET BEST TOTE +5% HANDICAP – 1600 metres:

Arena Rock – near the 1500m shifted in and away from Kiss Me Ketut (NZ) resulting in some contact to Baremin resulting in both of those horses getting unbalanced for a short distance. Rider Thomas Sadler was of the understanding the mare would now be spelled after its disappointing performance. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities and a swab sample was taken for analysis.

Race 6 – SPORTINGBET PROTEST PAY UP HANDICAP – 1400 metres:

Decircles – it was noted after the race the gelding made a respiratory noise however an endoscopic examination failed to reveal any findings.

Pillar Of Creation – rider Damian Lane stated that whilst the gelding did sweat up in the pre-parade, this was not unusual and was of the view that in this class of race was required to do too much work in the early stages to be able to finish the race off. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Race 8 – SPORTINGBET QUICK MULTIS HANDICAP – 1000 metres:

OMalley – rider Patrick Moloney reported that when placed under pressure on straightening, the gelding was reluctant to fully stretch out when racing amongst other runners; a post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities and a swab sample was taken for analysis.

RACE 4: Inglis Classic 1200m:

Only mention of Odyssey Moon‘s performance was an aside regarding another horse
Lady Jivago – was bumped shortly after the start when Odyssey Moon, which began awkwardly, shifted in.

RACE 8: TAB Rewards Handicap 1500m:

Diametric – B. Shinn stated that Diametric, which was racing second up today, raced a little flatly and was unable to accelerate when a run was available in the straight. Trainer Mr C. Waller stated that Diametric had pleased the stable and had trialled well since its last race on 10 January, however, in his opinion was looking for additional ground.


DOOMBEN -SATURDAY, 7 FEBRUARY 2015

Race 2: Jim Beam H’cap – 1600m

HARADA BAY – Overraced in the middle stages due to the slow pace. Pulled hard onto the heels of another runner after passing the 800m and shifted out.

ALLKNIGHT SAINT – Became unbalanced when bumped by another runner shortly after entering the home straight. Hung in from the 300m to the 200m. Slightly crowded near the 200m by Bodega Negra. G. Colless was severely reprimanded.

Race 4: Canagian Club QTIS 3yo H’cap – 1350m

PUNTA NORTE – Rider D. Griffin stated that after being ridden forward from the wide barrier the colt commenced to overrace in the lead, which resulted in him weakening badly over the final 250m. He added that after being first up over 1350m with blinkers on were a major contributor to the colt racing so poorly. Trainer R. Heathcote agreed with D. Griffin’s assessment, adding he would experiment with the removal of blinkers for its next race start. A post race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormality.
