Our first bet today was at Ararat in Race 3 #2 Mr Memphis 0.25 Units Win & 0.75 Units Place. Sometimes I feel like emailing the race plan to the trainers. He got away fast, but rather than let Dubai Opera do all the running, he set the pace. Swinging into the straight he was out of petrol and had nothing left to offer. 1 Unit Loss
Race 6 at Ararat was our Lay Bet, with the comment “Most maiden winners don’t make the jump to a BM64 at their next start and Viewpoint Estate has the weight, barrier and racing style to join the long list.” And so it proved, with Viewpoint Estate finishing unplaced. ROI 118%.
In the last at Ararat, Race 7, number 1 Henning was carrying our hopes and 2 Units of our money.
Just before the race I saw that he was backed into favouritism. Not that it did us any good, but apparently others shared my views on his ability. But a case of deja vu. Used up all his petrol leading and had nothing left in the straight and finished well back. Loss 2 Units
This is a frustrating period at the moment. Especially for fairly new members. These periods do happen. And although I try to avoid the, it is virtually impossible to completely avoid losing runs and weeks when nothing much seems to go our way. However, what I have also learnt over the years that having a patient and disciplined approach, will reap rewards. I wouldn’t be doing this otherwise.
