Busy day! I am tired, but happy.  Before we get into the analysis, I have an apology to make.  Again I received some Late Mail Selections from a trusted source.  I checked them and they seemed to make sense.  In hindsight we would have been better ignoring these.  Sorry.  This is the second time I have passed these on, and the second time they have not performed.  I am not very smart, but I am stubborn LOL!!!  But I think I may have learnt, and won’t pass these on again.

Let’s have a look at what we had today.

RANDWICK

Race 1 #13 Grande Punto (Extra Late Selection) – Unplaced Loss 1 Unit

The theory was that the odds on favourite’s racing style, meant that she couldn’t win as a back marker.  The theory was right, it was just Grande Punto, instead of going forward as expected stayed back with Private Secretary and they both finished nowhere.  The winner was Dublin Lass @ $13.

Race 3 #6 Tahni Dancer (Late Selection) –  Unplaced Loss 1 Unit
She was supposed to sit midfield and come home hard.  When I saw she was last in the running I metaphorically ripped up my tickets.

Race 4 #8 Pasadena Girl – 2 Units Win – Won at $2.80 (TT+) Profit 3.60 Units
Was given a decent ride today and killed them.  Peter Moody (trainer) was interviewed after the race, and casually mentioned that Dissident was in the best form of his career.  Wished I had listened LOL!!! Dissident won Race 6 at $10.50 (TT+)

CAULFIELD

Race 2 #7 TOOLEYBUC KID – 1 Unit Win – Won at $2.70 (TT+) Profit 1.70 Units
What a gutsy win that was.  If you haven’t seen the race, you have to watch it.  He gutsed it out, and I still get heart palpitations watching the replay LOL!!!!
Race 3 #3 SINO EAGLE – 1 Unit Win – Unplaced – Loss 1 Unit
A good run,  just not good enough on the day.  Was in a 5 horse photo for 3rd.

Race 8 #1 SELF SENSE – 1 Unit Win – Unplaced – Loss 1 Unit
Jumped slowly and was forced to drop back and slip into 4th ;last, to get some cover.  With a fierce pace up front, never a chance.
MORPHETVILLE

Race 1 #3 Fine Approach – 1 Unit Win – Won @ $2.30 – Profit 1.30 Units

After the recent poor runs, I was probably a bit over cautious here, only going with a 1 Unit bet.  Caitlin Jones did a superb job, and she got us an uncontested win here.
Race 5 #9 Durendal (LATE MAIL)  0.5 Units Win / 1.75 Units Place – Unplaced – 1 Unit Loss
Poor run and never threatened
SUNSHINE COAST
Race 6 #3 Billy Da Boss – 2 Unit Win – Won @ $2.10 – Profit 2.20 Units
Looked like winning easily, but in the end had a hard fought battle, but you would expect your short priced favourite to guts it out.  And he did!
SUNSHINE COAST
Race 2 #4 North Ridge 1 Unit Win – Won @ $4.80 – Profit 3.80 Units
Race 6  #1 Tower of Lonhro 1 Unit Win – Unplaced – Loss 1 Unit
Race 7 #8 First Among Equals 1.75 Units – Won @ $2.80 ($3.30 TF or BoB) – Profit 3.15 Units
Wrap Up
The day ended up 9.25 Units in Profit.  It would have been 12.25 Units without the Late Mail and the Extra Selection (oops … sorry).
The Punters Club today backed Hi World in Race 2 at Randwick, who saluted easily at $2.35, giving the club members a ROI of 235%.
